Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass on October 3rd, 1962 in Athens, Greece, to father David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant and mother Vassiliki "Voula" Papadimitriou (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou), an actress on the 1957 Miss Greece beauty contest. Athena is his younger sister and is a drummer. Lee was only two years old when his father brought his family on a trip to the United States. Lee received his first drums at age four and his first big drum kit when he was an adult. Lee quit high school to pursue a career in music which began with Suite 19, a L.A.-based group that was a club. In his teen years, he listened to Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Cheap Trick, Kiss, AC/DC and Sweet. His primary drumming influences include John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge, Alex Van Halen and Terry Bozzio
